Day 4: Safety - 5 Prayers for Anxious Educators

Day 4: Safety

Welcome to Day 4 of our 5 day blog series. If you’ve missed out on the first three days be sure to check them out as well.  With COVID and class sizes, learning gaps and the lack of grace, stressed out families and burnt out educators, anxiety may have found a place in your mind and heart. If so, this blog series is for you. This week I will be sharing five prayers for educators to lean on throughout the year, one for each day of the week. Each prayer is powerful, NOT because of any words I wrote, but because of the Word they are based upon. Below are the five scriptures that are the foundation for each prayer. Today’s prayer is for safety and protection. Meditate and reflect on the Word as you continue to use it to find strength throughout the year as you do what you do best: Pray. Teach. Repeat. <3

Dear God of the Exhausted Educator,

Encourage me as I awake each day to dress myself in the full armor of God, for I know there is safety and protection within it. I give thanks to you, my Lord, because you are my safety and my shield. I know I am well protected physically, emotionally, mentally, spiritually and financially when I put my full trust in You. Fear, anxiety, worry and stress do not belong to me, because I belong to You! You are my refuge and my fortress. I know I am safe in Your shadow. You protect me from dangers, seen and unseen, and for that I give you praise! Enable me to be strong and courageous in situations where I may be tempted to be timid and afraid. Thank You for always being with me. You are a good Shepherd. Even in the darkest of times, I know you will guard me and guide me. Goodness and Mercy surround me. I am surrounded and safe in You. In Jesus’ name.

5 Foundational Verses

“Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil.”- Ephesians 6:11 ESV

“The Lord is my strength and my shield; in him my heart trusts, and I am helped; my heart exults, and with my song I give thanks to him.”- Psalm 28:7 ESV

“He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say to the Lord, “My refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”- Psalm 91: 1-2 ESV

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”- Joshua 1:9 ESV

“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the LORD forever.”- Psalm 23: 1-6
